about

Notes from Neal Williams:
I rode with a friend to Sharon, PA to a beautiful park for a this concert in the gazebo. It was the first time I had ever heard them, but I had heard from friends that they were very good. My musical tastes changed that very day when I heard Daniel, John and Phil create such amazing landscapes with their individual styles. Add to that the vocals and harmonies and I was hooked! I saw another teen there with a small reel to reel tape recorder and one microphone that he held above his head. I remembered through the years that I knew he played in a band called “Yellow Canary”, and after some research, I tracked him down through his father, who was a professor at Edinboro University in Pennsylvania. I wrote some letters, and low and behold, the master reel showed up in my mailbox! This recording was from that tape.

I asked one of the guys about possible albums, and was told they would soon be going to the studio to record. This show is unique in that it has the Donovan song “Season of the Witch” that had been a big jam song. Of special note; this song was released in 1968 on an album called “Super Session” featuring Michael Bloomfield, and Phil was a major Bloomfield fan, often talking about how much he studied his playing.

Glass Harp Nashville, Tennessee

Glass Harp, featuring Phil Keaggy on guitar, John Sferra on drums and Daniel Pecchio on bass, is a bare bones group in the tradition of Cream, Jimi Hendrix Experience, and fellow Ohio band, The James Gang.
They developed a signature sound of their own – a progressive approach that allowed the members, collectively and individually, to stretch beyond the confines of standard form.
